Steven Booher

Steven was born and grew up in Anchorage, Alaska. After receiving his Bachelor of Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago in 2009, he moved back to Alaska to focus on market rate and affordable housing projects, where he developed a deep understanding and appreciation for the fundamental and basic need for housing in our communities. In 2014, he moved to Leavenworth to be closer to his family. He has continued working as an architect on many project types including custom residences, multi-family housing, hotels, retail, and restaurants. In 2019, he was appointed to the Leavenworth Planning Commission, where he continued to be an advocate for finding solutions to our housing crisis and helped lead efforts to update housing regulations and implement the City's Housing Action Plan. Stepping down from the Planning Commission in 2023, Steven has focused on continuing his advocacy for affordable housing solutions in our community. He spends his free time pretending to be a woodworker, playing chess, and enjoying time with his wife, Rachel, his son, Simon, and their dog, June.
