Leavenworth native Rusty Gibbs combines his artistic talent with his creative juices to produce one of a kind art pieces. He paints in a variety of styles, including realistic, impressionistic, abstract, and illustrative. Rusty earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in fine art and graphic design from the Northwest College of Art in Poulsbo, WA.
Even though my cupboard is bursting with hand painted bowls, going all the way back to the first Empty Bowls Festival, I always look forward to painting more. They mark the progress of time and of my family’s artistic expression. I am honored to be an auction artist this year and will put every good wish for health and happiness into my work.
Leavenworth has been my home for 24 years. I came here to open The Gingerbread Factory, which I enjoyed until selling it to raise my family. My creativity has taken many forms beyond the Bachelor of Fine Arts I earned in college; gingerbread and cakes, graphic design and photography, quilting, cooking, drawing and some painting. I love to work with recyclables, making something useful or fun out of throw-a-ways. I enjoyed hosting a few ‘Doll Camps’ with my daughter for girls to explore making little clothes and furniture out of collected materials.
